Goma is 35 years old with 4 young kids studying at Maya Universe Academy. Her first husband went to India for the year and never returned, not hearing any news from him. She lived in her in-laws village 6 hours away from her family home. She then decided to buy a small land near her maternal family and is married again and is starting to settle. She likes to work with the bracelets as she learns new ideas and how to become self-dependent. She aims to make her family stable and her main goal in life is to uplift her children’s education.
Manu is 30 years old raising her young child, attending Maya Universe Academy, by herself; her husband works in Dubai. She lives 20 minutes away from the main school campus and workshop at Maya. Before joining the bracelet team, Manu was a house-wife. As a parent of a Maya student, she was given the opportunity to earn her own income by joining the team. On her off days and free time, she is working in her fields and looking after her cattle amongst other household chores. She recently received homestay training and is keen on opening her own home-stay whilst continuing the bracelet work from home or the workshop.
