30-year-old, Nirmala Rai is from Dharan and came here for the treatment of her husband who was affected by leprosy and then got training which led to getting employed here. She has been working here for the past 10 years and feels that she has been learning new skills. She has been able to support her family through the income from here. She is also glad that New SADLE provides free education till grade 10 to children of employees who work here.
Meena Tamang a resident of Taplejung came to Kathmandu 15 years ago with her friends to see how this city looks like. She stayed along but all her friends returned. She was provided training to weave Dhaka textile by New SADLE and has been working here for 13 years. She doesn’t have any education but is very happy that she can earn a living all thanks to New SADLE. Working here not only provides her with economic support but also emotional support as she feels that her second family is this.

Dhaka patterns are unique and have been ingrained in the Nepali culture for centuries.
